Frequently Asked Questions: Company Car Driver Questions

What does a company car cost me?

The cost of a company car consists of the taxable value and the income tax paid on it. The taxable value is determined based on the price of the car, the type of benefit (free car benefit / usage benefit) and the year of introduction. Smartfleet helps your employer choose cost-effective cars and financing solutions, which also keeps your taxable value at a reasonable level.

Who do I contact when my car is replaced?

Our service model includes a professional responsible for your company's fleet, who is familiar with the market and your company's car policy and assists you in the event of a car replacement, we want you to be in good hands as a company car driver.

What is the difference between a company car benefit and a free car benefit?

Benefit value: The employer pays for the car's expenses (financing, maintenance, insurance), but the employee pays for the fuel or electricity themselves. Free car benefit: The employer also pays for the fuel or electricity.

Can I influence which car I get?

In most companies, yes. The selection is made within the framework of the company's car policy (e.g. price cap, emission limits, fuel type). The Smartfleet operating model provides the employer with better cost transparency, which often enables a more flexible and sensible car selection compared to traditional leasing solutions.

What happens if my employment ends in the middle of the contract period?

A company car is always tied to an employment relationship. If the employment ends, the car will be returned to the employer or separately agreed upon in the employment contract. Possibly, the car/agreement can also be transferred to a new employer. In the Smartfleet model, vehicle financing is not necessarily tied to a traditional leasing structure, which gives the employer more flexibility in change situations - and reduces risks for the entire fleet, as agreements can always be changed or terminated.
